Warcraft III doesn't run smoothly

So I have a new computer (yay), but for some reason warcraft just doesn't run smoothly. Does anyone know how to fix it?

Not sure how to describe it, but it's like it's running on 20-25fps. It isn't unplayable, but it is annoying.

Some specs:

Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 925 AM3
Ram: Kingston VR DDR3 1066M 4GB Kit
Graphics card: Sapphire HD 5770 1GB Vapor-X

And running on 16:9 screen (using WC3 ResChange for a proper resolution and ratio)

That should easily be able to run WC3.

Have you updated your graphics drivers? Have you tried messing around with the video settings to see if anything there could be changed to fix it?

I know, but my guess was: My PC is too good for war3. My Question following that is. is there anyway to reduce my pc capability so it runs it smoothly or doesn't it work like that?

you can reduce your pc's performance easily, but that isn't the problem - first upgrade your graphics drivers, then try going to task manager and setting wc3's priority to "above normal" or "high"
