I myself, along with other people I know, have had many personal experiences with "paranormal" stuff, too many to rule out the fact that empirical science cannot answer for everything, at least not with our current knowledge. Maybe someday it will.

I'm not trying to "prove" that paranormal things actually happen. I respect the fact that others probably disagree with me. You may call me delusional--Richard Dawkins certainly would.

I'm a skeptic by nature, but I know for myself what I have experienced.

i find proofs of ghost sightings to be a common victim of photoshop

demons on the other hand, or if a priest and a doctor is involved....

i read somewhere that anxiety causes paranormal things in the brain. we are what we eat.

It's hard to disprove something that doesn't exist, especially something such as ghosts.
You can't disprove something that you can't prove ever existed in the first place.
Yeah you see, you can't prove any of those things, nor can you disprove them. lol

But it can be proven to exist, with a picture, video, any real evidence. Well, "I'm not saying that the all evidence". But it is possible to find evidence.

So the door moved, prove to me that it wasn't the wind. Prove to me that it wasn't because the door hinges aren't straight.
You should feel where's the wind comes from, so it must be something else that cause it. Eh?
Wouldn't It be kinda hard to close the door than?

Well, what about personal experience? If one of your friends Or a family shares their Paranormal experience to you. What would you say to them? They're so crazy?

I have a guy in my class who doesn't believe in science because he has his own "science" :p

He believes in feng shui, acupuncture, the secret, npd and so on... he's too stupid to realize he's wrong, no matter how much anyone proves him wrong.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning–Kruger_effect <- But what can you do, really? If he starts talking about that stuff with me, I try to explain to him why it can not be. When he doesn't give up we kinda agree to disagree...

Ghosts are like god. You can't prove they exist. You also can't prove they don't.
Someone that believes in ghosts will interpret things differently than someone that doesn't. One could never change someone's mind because it is not an opinion its a belief.

But I find this topic hard to address seriously.... I don't think there are many sane people in the (western) world that seriously think ghosts exist.

You can NOT prove something that you were never able to prove ever existed in the first place doesn't exist. It never existed, therefore it can't "not exist". There is no way to prove something exists to someone else through "personal experience" or "belief", because you don't know what actually happened versus what the person says happened. How do you know that how they saw it is the real event that occurred? People interpret things differently, so chances are, they didn't see everything the the exact way it happened. Unless you can make it a normal occurrence, as in anyone can walk in and see this "ghost", find some scientific way to prove it, or some other way with something that can be proven all the time, theres no way to prove ghosts exist.

You can't say it doesn't exist, because there is a chance that it may, but you also can't say you can PROVE it doesn't exist, because theres nothing to prove never existed in the first place.
Show me a ghost that I can see in person and I'll believe, until then, I don't believe it via "faith".

Belief != Fact

Kinda hard isn't it? hehehe
Well, but what if you're wrong? Have you ever thought about that?

Ghosts are like god. You can't prove they exist. You also can't prove they don't.
Nah it isn't the same, Because a Ghost is the soul or intellectual being of a person.
Well, I don't want to get into religion. But god Doesn't Exist, If God exists, why doesn’t god make existence something provable and undeniable?
and what is a god? eh? But about ghost, there's has been a lot of evidence that ghosts exist "Maybe". Well, sure if you don't want to believe these spooks, go ahead. Or If you believe it. I don't Judge you. lol

Well, since that's more or less the only argument he has. "What if?", "You can't say for certain it doesn't exist" ... which aren't really good arguments.

What if the world was flocked with invisible rabbits? Huge rabbits, everywhere. You can't disprove it, so you better consider it......

A sane person does not reason that way.
