For that you need to create a lot of different colors. For example: Purple = 255 0 255.
Then you need to pick all units owned by that player and change their color.
There's a risk two players will choose the same color, causing confusion. This can, of course, be prevented, though.
All in all I sugest you drop this idea, it's a lot of work and fills no real purpose.
