do upgrades affect mercenaries?

I haven't tested it (I want to save time ), but here's a question:

I buy a mercenary unit from a neutral building (like a tavern) and the unit uses an upgrade

if I upgrade that "Upgrade" from my base, will it affect the unit?

If it has the upgrade in "Upgrades Used" field - yes, it will benefit from it.
