Dummy Spell damage

For now I use this system:

Trigger:
  • Wait ((Distance between FirelordPosition and FireboltTargetPoint) / 900.00) seconds


This isn't working perfect, quite often if range in the end differs - in case of unit running away damage is a bit delayed. How can I improve it?

2 ways i know of
1) trigger the projectile movement
2) order a new dummy(new or recycled) to cast projectile spell, detect when spell event fires > condition trigger unit = dummy, then retrieve data (original caster, damage etc) either through hashtable or array.

i dont know what you try to do....

if you shoot something you could improve it when you make the projectile a dummy and check every 0.03 seconds whether distance between the dummy and the target is smaller than XY...

or you could use a projectile system....
