I don't know if you heard anything about it, but it seems that Greece is in a chaotic situation.
Everything started 4 days ago. A 15(to 16)-year-old boy was killed by a police officer (he was actually shot). Witnesses claimed that the Police Officer took out his gun, when the boy started making fun of him (just fun), when the officers (within the inquiry) claimed that he was along with 3-4 more boys, who were kind of drunk and had been shooting out bottles on them. Within 8 hours maximum, everyone got in the streets of both the capitals' (Athens) and the sub-capital (Thessaloniki).
At first people were taking over the streets, trying to complain for such a thing, when some anarchic people showed up and started burning everything in their way.
In 2 days some of the most common streets in Athens are burnt, shops, banks, public buildings and ministry departments. The same goes to Thessaloniki, although the damage is most dealt within the downtown shops. Still, more than 100 shops are burnt, the christmas tree, which was supposed to decorate the main square of the city is burnt and all these within Christmas!
The thing i hate is that all those do such things in the memory of the dead boy, when they do not care about anyone else. They ruin everything and their excuse is the way the government rules. I ask you: The dead boy is supposed to be a fellow citizen. All those shops that also belong to fellow citizens are destroyed. What kind of "sympathy" to fellow citizens do those anarchic bitches claim to have?
Of course they took the chance to destroy everything. News no longer speak about the boy, they speak about the places burnt all over every some hours. The city is like in-war and the transportation is limited within daytime. We are all afraid to get off our homes (well, if we live downtown, cause other areas are not -fortunately- affected) and go out for a walk. The Aristotle's University has been closed for like 2 days and tomorrow it will be the 3rd. I have heard that the Maths's School is half-burnt.
Everyone in Greece is speaking of this. You turn on the TV, you watch this. You speak with a friend of yours, you talk about this. Honestly, i don't know when it will end, but it's one of the biggest mess ever and i bet it will be written in Greece's history. There are thoughts for the government to be taken down. The situation is extremily serious and everyone is trying to make up for the damage on the stores.
I want your thoughts on this. This nightmare seems infinite and although the country is not underdeveloped, things lead her towards that way. It's like all we had was enough and now this.
I know that the police officer was an a**hole but uh, is this the behaviour to make things up? They behave as if it was them who actually died. But everything is an excuse. They just use up the events to make sh*t. They all need some lesson; those people are mad, nothing more, nothing less. They believe that they have power, yes i can make my own bomb and throw it over, but this won't make me powerful...! They have to realise how weak they are and then act, if they can. I hate them.

Well, in a situation like that where someone is killed in such a manner (particularly when it's someone young, I would imagine), uproar would be expected, but going by what you've said, that's just gone way too far. Perhaps the vast majority of those people were just waiting for an excuse to have a go at authority?
Doesn't sound like something a sane person without a hatred towards the police/government would do... hopefully they will come to their senses soon, tearing Athens to bits won't bring the boy back, and I doubt it'll bring any consolation to the family either

I hate this kind of stuff. The last ~10 years were I live we've been having a nazi march once a year just because some guy was murdered. He became a martyr and now gives both the Nazis and the antis-Nazis a day without laws so they can break the law of freedom and speech, fight, throw rocks at police and destroy for millions of crows. So fucking stupid.
