Freedom is a meaningless power word. What happened here was perfectly reasonable. The people in question were violating decency so they were banned from the mall. When they came back, they were arrested for trespass - it is really their own fault.

For once, I agree with him.

The problem I have here is not that it's a violation of freedom - I believe it's disgusting to walk around with your arse hanging out your pants - but I also believe that arresting the whole family was unnecessary. It was only the guy wearing the jeans who got banned from the mall - so how come the whole family faces charges of trespassing?

Oh, and the arrest was for trespass. Not for baggy jeans.
Incidentally, malls ban people for wearing such clothing styles as they don't want you to put off other shoppers, and hence turn away profit for the stores. They aren't interested in that it might cause offence, only the profit they make.
Go figure.
