Nearly everything takes ages (10sec or more) to show up and you can see every line of the tables coming.

Is it just me or is TH damn slow at the moment?

Working fine for me. Probably something along your route to the site rather than the site itself.

Takes me 0.718 seconds to load the homepage and 0.480 seconds to load the forums. The Helper is never slow for me.

It is probably your comp. My comp is slow and takes about 1-5 seconds to load each page. Longer if there is a ton of content/images.

thehelper is fast for me... Firefox.

I installed FasterFox and that tells me how long it took the site to load completely and that plugin makes my browser load stuff quicker.

Fasterfox just makes it so your browser owns websites, or something like that

To be a little more precise:

Fasterfox follows every link (visible to you or not) on a page you're visiting and pre-fetches its content. So, even if you're not going to click on any of them, you still download these files, thus wasting both your own bandwidth and the one of the server you're downloading from.

Although the official page states that only HTML, images and various text files are considered, those can be advertisements, pr0n or even exploits disguised as one of the accepted HTML extensions.

Definitely not an extension I'd consider using, as bad things(TM) can happen.

It my modem. Somewhy I have 30% packet loss there. Other pages were just faster because they needed less packets.

No offense, just unconvinced about something...

What!?! 10 seconds = being referred as taking ages !
:banghead:You have no idea how long I take to refresh a page of TheHelper.Net. I take 20 seconds to load one (I called that one normal for me), and you said 10 seconds takes ages? I can't believe this. I can't believe my connection sucks a hell lot!! :banghead:

The problem was some damaged server (ISP).

Normally (like now) it takes 1-2 sec to load a page. I don't know where you come from, but I'm from Austria (Europe btw). If you are in the USA try pinging some server near THN (THN doesn't answer). If you have packet loss over 5% check traceroutes.

@Admins: Why doesn't THN reply to pings?

Probably a security setting - we host another site (Silkroad Forums) which is DOS attacked alot so that is probably a setting to combat that.

Why should it?

Some of the ICMP payloads aren't exactly innocent and one can do "funny" things with them.
Apache and IIS also have bugs so better don't use them, right?

Hope you get it...
