The hormonal release and anxiety/excitement that males demonstrate when seeing breast and female genitalia, is something that has developed over thousands of years. It is instinctive and natural. To argue that the opposite effect taking place for men is natural, has to be, in my opinion, a physical disorder or maybe even a mental disorder. I accept this exists, but I don't accept it is natural.

I understand what you're saying, but it still feels wrong to label it as a disease. Have I got a mental disorder for listening to different music and not feeling the same feelings when listen to pop? No, everyone has got a different taste, and just because they're different from you doesn't mean they're sick or have a disorder.

Over the years I've known and been friends with many who are gay or bisexual. Not once has any of them ever said to me that their attraction to the same gender was 'genetic'. I'm not actually aware of how this mythical genetic disease came to be a widely known, but it has no scientific founding. Every study that has proposed the idea is doing so on pure speculation,
And the studies that have claims of evidence coincidentally cannot be replicated in the scientific community.

It's been somewhat proven that an idea of beauty is passed from generation to generation. For example, Chinese love women with small feet, while other people like teh big butts . From this it means that either sexual attraction is either genetic or social, if everyone likes one thing than the next person will probably also think the same thing.

For all the animal examples even though they might act sexually towards another of a similarly gendered animal they still have sex with females and reproduce. Reproduction is hard-wired into almost every being especially since that's how animals survive and evolve. That's why it could be contributed to something wrong with our genetics. Once again I'm theorizing and have no proof.

It's quite possible that there can be a set of genes that cause homosexuality to be more probable without it really affecting reproduction rates due to mating seasons and rituals etc.

I think its 50% the genes and 50% your environment. So if you are the youngest of 9 brothers you are more likely to become gay than if you are the oldest.

Personally, I believe it's a social choice. I have some friends who are homosexual, they're still cool to hang around with. The reason I think it's a Social choice (hope I'm not getting to risky here) is because we used to watch porn together before he went homosexual.

It is simply sexual attraction. Someone liking others of their gender is no different from me liking skinny short haired girls, or someone who is attracted to animals or technology, It has nothing to do with genes.

I think there are on average more straight singles than there are gay singles... I have to wonder if there is a connection. I guess it's these types of clues that we need to look at in order to understand more. But the cause isn't really that important to me right now, but of course if we did find out how or why and it was possible to change I guess I would. I don't really like putting too much passion into norms and values it hurts more than it.... um I'm not really sure what the benefits are. But it sure does create alot of heated conflicts! :thup:

Although I am quite surprised why so many people care (there's a gay debate on almost all forums and barely anyone is or says they are gay!)

well first of all yay for asking a question

But since I am aware that It could be a lot more convenient to not be gay I would to some extent not want to be gay (you have to realize that my previous comment wasn't that serious in retrospect).

You have to understand that you can't have everything you want.
I am attracted to men whether I like it or not, and since I personally (not sure about others though) Do not like to be unhappy I choose to accept. Does that answer your question?

This isn't really debatable. It's a biological trait observed in many species. Could you possibly be so ignorant as to assume that 10% of the population is simply pretending, just because it seems unnatural to you? I really don't know.

That question is like asking a heterosexual guy, "are you sure you like woman? Have you ever tried being attracted to a man?". Obviously that wouldn't go over so well, because you don't get to pick your Sexual orientation, so its not like the entire population of homosexuals are just acting that way for attention, its like race, sex or your parents. You don't get to choose.

Personally I say let gays be accepted in society so they don't have to live a lie, get married and then have an affair with their wife with another man, ten years down the road.
