Item Stocking

Is it possible to make items stock together when you pick them up? Meaning when you pick one of them up, you get a quantity of 1 and when you pick two you get a quantity of 2, but in the same item slot, and with the increase of the number in the small number of charges box in the corner. Is this used with some other item that I didn't notice? Can it be done without leaderboards? Is it possible?
