Missile speed and damage

I've been making a map for a LAN party that I will have with a friend some time, and we both play WC3 so, why not make a map? I'm making it in the style of League of Legends and all that stuff. But I have a simple question: Is it possible, when a spell using a missile is used, that the target will take damage the moment they get hit by the missile? The thing I'm currently doing is set a "Wait" command for the average time, I think, the missile will fly. But making it deal damage when it lands would be a lot smoother. How do I achieve that?

You'll need a damage detection event for this. An example can be found in 'Modern Warfare Weaponary' link in my signature. Check out 'Homing Missile'. You'll get a rough idea of how to do it.
