Reversing the effect of research

Is there any way to reverse the effect of research?
Ok, here is the problem.
Let's say the game consists of 3 rounds and i research an upgrade till level 3.
After round 1, how do i reverse the upgrade back to level 1?:confused:

EDIT: Oh, just read around the forum and found out that there isn't any way to reverse them. Aww~ :(
But ideas on how to implement these actions are welcomed! :D

Honestly, I wouldn't research for upgrades. If you want to, use triggers, or replacing units, would be the best bet.

baassee: Hmm, i think of that too but what if the game consists of 5 rounds? Then i will have to make 5 different upgrades and need a boolean variables to check for every single one, that wouldn't work. Thanks for the help!
NeuroToxin: Yeah, i think of that too but looks tedious so i wanted to find a better solution. But i think i gotta do it that way, ran out of any shorter solution that might work. Thanks:)
