Unit visible only to one player - without desyncs?

Hello,

I heard that GetLocalPlayer causes desyncs. If that is true, are there any other ways of showing one unit to only one player? It doesn't necessarily even need to be an unit, as it is just supposed to mark the target point of a certain ability.

GetLocalPlayer does not cause desyncs if you know how to use it. it only desyncs if you create a new handle. many functions, mainly about visuals, work great with GetLocalPlayer filters.

ciritcal to note, you have to do it the way muzk did, otherwise its going to desync if you, for example, create the special effect for a local player or the string "path" only locally. everything which is created got to be created on every computer to sync the handle IDs.

Another option could be to use Permanent Invisibility along with ally trickery where the unit is owned by a neutral player and you ally/unally the player with your other player as needed. Though I'm not sure what you're trying to do with the invisible unit, so....
