Using the Data Editor's 'Turrets' on a Marine?

I'm trying to learn how the 'turrets' tab in the data editor works.

I hope my assumptions are right in that the turrets are supposed to shoot projectiles even while the unit is moving, right? If not, I'd like to learn how to do exactly that.

Currently my Marine can shoot photon cannons, which was very simple to accomplish, but I'd like to have him also shoot them at nearby enemies when he walks by.

I added the Photon Cannon turret to my Marine's Combat Tab, but nothing happens.

Any Suggestions? Thanks!

As to get your units to attack on the move I would look into the Diamondback or Cobra (Diamondback being a campaign unit first found on Tarsonis in the mission "The Great Train Robber") as it as an ability "Fire on the Move" that allows it to fire while moving. I haven't messed with this yet so it is Untested but you should be able to adapt that to any unit.

No, turrets aren't used for that purpose.

Turrets have to do with changing the actor's turret to 'look' at the unit it is firing.

For attacking while moving, look at the Phoenix weapon, look under Flags. Phoenix' can attack while moving (they don't have turrets) and you should use them as a base for what you're looking for.

I'm pretty sure there is a Flag called Allowed Movement.

Overload is correct Turrets are used for units with moving parts, such as hellions, motherships and, well missile turrets.

What your looking for is the "Weapon - Allowed Movement" section on the weapon you want to allow movement for.

You can set it to moving, slowing or none.

TO have a basic figure of what a turret is, imagine the immortal. The turret is the top half of the immortal (The shooting part) and the other part is the actual unit (the legs).

Imagine the laser batteries on the Hyperion (you can see them in a cinematic). They move independently of the actual unit.
