The Knights of Arcadia vs The Colossus of False Prophets

Epic Boss Battle (might change name)
Pick One: Arcadian Crusaders, Legacy of Knights, Shadow of Falsehood, and Army of Fallacy :D

An epic battle between The Holy Knights of Arcadia and The Collossus of False Prophets.

The Army of False Prophets harness their power from a collosal beast known as
The Collossus of False Prophets and it is up to you to slay this
collossus and end their tyranny once and for all.

The main reason this game is "epic" is because of the music: Electric Romeo - Immediate Music
I heard this choir/orchestra piece and decided to make a massive boss battle map.
Now imagine playing this game with that music playing... that's right >]

Note: The game doesn't rely on the music.

You start out as level one of your chosen knight and you venture through the medium sized, free roaming map, and train. However, there's also a massive overpowered colossal boss walking around training and guarding the area as well. Once encountered, each classes has a role to play [see information below].

At the start of game, you have to choose a knight.
There's 7 classes:

  • Main Tank - The main job of the main tank is to gain the attention of the mobs. A main tank has high health and high armor in order to take a beating.

  • Off Tank - The main job of the off tank is to become the tank for the mobs who leave the main tank.

  • Aggro Manager - The main job of the an aggro manager is to grab the aggro from the general party and revert it back to the main tank.

  • Main Healer - The main healer's job is to keep the main tank alive. The main healer can heal other players in the party, but only if the main tank is not in danger of death. It is vital that the main healer avoid grabbing too much aggro through healing.

  • Secondary Healer - The secondary healer's job is to provide healing to sources other than the main tank (which is the main healer's job). The secondary healer is a backup healer only to be used when absolutely necessary.

  • Crowd Control - The main job of the crowd control is to manage the mob and either act as a AoS damage dealer or support players by stunning or disabling large mobs.

  • Damage Dealer - The main job of a Damage Dealer is to kill the mobs the tank is tanking.

There are lots of creeps, with different levels ranging from easy to very hard and boss-like difficulty. You can choose to stay at your camp and wait 'till it's night so the creeps are all asleep, but you'll have very limited vision. Or you can choose to go roaming around the map in broad daylight but attract every creeps within range.

Notes:
This game is free-roaming. Every place and corner of this map can be accessed.

You can fight the boss whenever you feel ready.

Day and night system adds on to your strategies, letting you decide when to attack. You can choose to go in broad daylight where every creep within radius can see you, or at night where the creeps are asleep but your vision is very limited.

When the boss is encountered, it wouldn't be alone. It will call backup and reinforcements, and it is up to your group to plan out how to deal with the enemy "mobs".

I've decided to make the boss trigger-controlled so it will respond based on the triggers I give it. Meaning, I will be the boss... bwahahaha >]

The boss will always be the same level as the player hero with the highest level.

I think that's pretty off topic...

and background music is really the least thing I care about when playing a game

it will eventually get boring if you play the game few times
the main focus of the game should be on it's gameplay, not the music

I was suggesting a better kind of music, if the game really will relie on the music instead of the gameplay it should have epiccer music ^^ right?

but i agree, the main focus of the game should be on it's gameplay, not the music...

Ahh LOL, well that's what I'm working on right now = the gameplay :D
It's not set on stone, so I can make a few changes like maybe trigger this music when you fight the boss, so it's not playing the whole game.

It's just something to spice up the game since, well whenever I play a map with a custom music, it's like a breath of fresh air. It's something out of the usual so it changes the atmosphere of your gaming (IMO).

So it doesn't rely on the music :D


Anything else? Like maybe something I could add or maybe something I have to remove, etc. ?
Haha I need lots of feedback for my map so i could make it as good as possible.

Well, I hope you make it fun and intense, if you need some more inspiration (although I think the song is enough for you xD) check out Impossible Bosses by psyris.

Cool song, but I can't imagine that to a boss battle because it's too, er, uplifting, lulz. Not scary or intense enough.

So it's like a RPG that focuses mainly on bosses? Well for boss AI's, you could just make the spells he uses and his actions based on your own timing or by health. Like bosses usually should be the same, or relatively the same every time. You don't really need an AI for a boss, since a boss is the maker's super enemy, so the boss should do what the maker wants him to do.

ZOMG, I just tried out the map. That map's so amazing!! Haha, I'm inspired even more >]

LOL well it's more of a heroic song. It's gonna play when you start fighting the boss. It psyches up the players (IMO), and I want to get the players to feel like they're the ones fighting, and not just some unit in Warcraft. 'Cause I've seen lots of movies where whenever there's a big battle, a heroic music plays. A really good example is Lord of the Rings... when the Rohan Cavalry arrives to rescue Gondor.

When the violin plays, you can't help feeling the chills.
I want to get that same reaction from the players playing my map.

My map's not big enough for an RPG. It's more of a free roaming game where you can fight the boss anytime you want. The boss roams the map. You're main goal is to get your level up and get the proper skills and when you think you're ready, fight the boss.

The variety of classes makes the gameplay fresh and new everytime. Lots of different combinations and strategies to kill the boss. However, I'll also be spending A LOT of time in making the boss really smart so the game would be challenging all the time.

And I think the boss level should be based on the average level of all the Hero players in the game.

I don't really want to use Black vs. White 'cause some people might take it the wrong way... & there's already a game called Shadow of the Colossus but my map isn't that so it might disappoint people LOL.

well the models .mdx should be 1 file.
and the blp is for the skin the models uses. :)
most of the models uses in-game textures (blp's), so some of them don't need blp's. :rolleyes:

Seems rather generic. I'd like to see different class roles than what we already have in shitty games like WoW.
