In response to the recent controversy over a new US law proposed by Congress called "SOPA" or the "Stop Online Piracy Act" that would severely limit some internet companies and sites like Google and YouTube in what they can and cannot allow or even link to, there has been a fairly large outcry from the public. Domain name registrar GoDaddy recently came out in support of the SOPA act, sparking a mass exodus away from them which has resulted in the loss of over 70,000 domain names.
Competing registrar Namecheap has declared Dec. 29th "Move Your Domain" day and is offering discounts on transfers when you use the coupon "SOPASucks" on checkout.
