Now, what's the square root of 1/9? If you can't solve this intuitively, before going onto more complicated methods there are other ways to chop this up. sqrt(1/9) is the same as sqrt(1)/sqrt(9). sqrt(1) is 1 and sqrt(9) is 3. So the square root of 1/9 is 1/3. 1/3 multiplied by 3 is 1.
I'm on a page about incorrect corrections, and spent the better part of like two hours trying to get someone to understand that -5^2 = -25, not 25, and then that post had comments get reposted because that group is self sustaining, and that person was in turn trying to explain what I just explained to them.
