Origin vs. Steam

So apparently EA is pulling their releases out of Steam to their own store, Origin. Some of their games will be "Origin only" exclusives.
What are the consequences you ask? Well, I think there will be competition between the two big companies. Prices dropping and we, gamers win (that's just my speculation).
I don't think this would happen, but what if Valve drops their support on the current EA-games on Steam? Like, what if I'm not able to play BC2 anymore on Steam, but insted I'd have to create an account on Origin?

While business competition is really nice for the consumers, it WILL be rather annoying having to sign into two different programs at once. Integration is user-friendly, and since that is what users want I'm pretty sure most people will stick to Steam as that is what they already have! "Why should I download another program?" they ask.

Looks like EA Games will be getting even less of my business than before. Oh well, it's not like they release many quality games anyways.

I personally don't see why Valve would ever willingly do this; they wouldn't want to drive people toward their competitor's product so in that regard I think you're safe. (Of course this won't stop EA pulling titles themselves)

I doubt I'll be using Origin simply because I don't need to.

Nice to see all you guys sticking to Steam! But I'm afraid that I have to create an Origin account when BF3 comes.
