Lawls, I can't believe I'm posting this here... I'm pro with the Trigger Editor and all but:

Trigger:
  • Build
    • Events
      • Unit - A unit Finishes construction
    • Conditions
      • (Unit-type of (Constructed structure)) Equal to Firepit
    • Actions
      • Unit - Add a 60.00 second Generic expiration timer to (Constructed structure)

OK so the base of this is that it detects if a unit finishes construction, it Identifies what the constructed construction is then it adds a 60 second expiration Timer. BUT It's not adding the 60 second expiration timer to the unit. So, when the firepit is constructed, it works, but it doesn't show the expiration timer. Maybe It's because it's a Generic expiration timer... I don't know.
 
Does it need to be a structure specifically? You could make it mechanical, add the Structure classification and set its movement speed to 0, simulating the effect of a structure without actually being one.
 
Hmm try making one Trigger for testing purposes like this

Trigger:
  • varFirePit
    • Unit - A unit Finishes construction
    • (Unit-type of (Constructed structure)) Equal to Firepit
    • Set varFirePit = Last Constructed Unit
    • Unit - Add a 60.00 second Generic expiration timer to varFirePit


that was a raw code,but you get the point, my idea is that this Test Trigger will Specify the Firepit you require the Timer to be added to. Hope i helped a bit;)

Try using Triggering Unit instead of Constructed Structure.
 
Try adding an expiration timer to a preplaced structure. It doesn't show, but the structure dies after the timer finishes anyway. I think that's the problem here.
 
Yes, Kaerf is right, I just tested it and expiration timers do work on buildings, they just don't show the timer bar.

    It is OK though for the main page to open up on the forum in the view it was before. As long as the portal has its own URL so it can be viewed that way I do want to try it as a regular forum view for a while

    Yeah I'm not sure what the deal is with the pagination.

    It SHOULD be there so I think it might just be an artifact of having an older style.

    I switched it to a "Standard" article forum. This will show the thread list like normal, but the threads themselves will have the first post set up above the rest of the "comments"
