TH.net Needs Some Icons

With our recent forum change, I think we could use a few graphical enhancements if anyone would be so kind as to give it a shot.

Here's what I want at the moment:

1. A new favicon. The one we have has been around forever and I think it could use a fresh look.
2. New forum read/unread icons instead of those blue balloons. Maybe something with the TH logo.... Not a mandate, just an idea. I like creativity. (As long as it fits the theme)

Either of these would be great to have. Cookies for good designs.

Well, I've Just created a Very simple favicon.

How bout this for a favicon?

2 is with border, other is without.

How large do you need the favicon? Can you resize it?

I believe it should be 16x16 px.

I whipped up a few. I made sure they were mostly readable from an average distance. Let me know if you want any changes or have any ideas. Unfortunately with that size there isn't much you can do that is actually readable so most of these are very basic (but basic is what we're looking for in a favicon right?).

And they are all in the .zip (I can't upload .bmp here I guess). Let me know if they show up blurry because they should be very crisp.

I think the bright red stands out a bit too much. Perhaps a blue background with text like the color of the text in the current banner image might look good.

Like before it was the purple and yellow. now it feels like this site has a blue and red theme to it (with some metallic tones).

Do you think it would look better with a colored background?

I just left it transparent for it to take whatever is behind it. It's lined in black so what ever color you put behind it won't affect it much.

Can you add it into that sprite so it is one image like it should be?
