Vine-Repeater A-39 - after many tests, they have finally figured out the right calculations and materials to use to fire out vines at enemies without destroying the vine, or the gun itself.
Damage: 30
Cooldown: .5
Range: 900
Allowed Targets: b,h,c
Special Stat: Each attack has a 10% chance to entangle the target, ministunning it for .25 seconds.

How's that?

When shot a meteor will fall on the location of the target, this attack will not home onto the target and will take .5 seconds to reach the ground, upon impact anything includeing biuldings will take damage depening on how far they are from the blast radius, the weapon cannot directly target a building, but its splash can still damage a biulding.

Well, like we say: Old friends, old partners, my old serra, I,d gladly add a weapon made of mine since we made that much together, I,d hope for it to b in your map:

Weapon name: Don Reaper's Cannon
Description: Reapers were always hidden in nightmares, now that demons landed on hearth, they released the furious reapers, creating a tons of flying dead peoples. This project failed a long time ago and 3 unique pieces were found, left away on hearth.
Damage: **See ability**
Range: **See ability**
Attacks: Ground, air, heroes. (no structures)
Ability: Based on locust swarm, this item can't be purchased. It must be found on a random spot of the map. The way it works is that when you find it, it has no effect. You must click the item to upgrade it and give it an effect but still cost a lot. There are a total of 3 pieces on the map. Once the 3 combined, it gives a mervellous item that is almost the strongest item in the game. But it is not cheap. When you acquires a part of this reaper's cannon, you must have 10k gold on you or it wont combine. Once you get to 10k gold, you can either drop a part of the cannon and take it back to have it combined and loose your 10k gold.

Ability data:
Swarm unit type: Make a new unit based of locust and change it's model to unit-missile/advanced death tower.
Damage return factor: 0
Damage return treshold: 0
Unti-type damage: 100 (+50 every combinason)
Area of effect: 900
Number of swarm units: 10 (+ 10 every combinason)
Duration: 120 (both)
Cooldown: 0
Others: you decide.

LOL as you see, i've put a lot of time in it so please add it lol (yesh if u want, you can reduce it and you can even ask me how to trigger(GUI) it...)!

lol u talked about several different ships.
Are they classes, I.E. all ships fall under one catagory, or are they individual ships?

Buffs
an interesting feature that would be great, is the adition of buffs similar to those in zombie survival games.

each buff lasts till you either repair your ship in the docks or use an ability to fix it unless otherwise stated. some ships could be immune to certain buffs ie a ship with no mast could not get broken mast they could include:

buffs do not stack


burning - this ship is on fire and taking 4% damage till it gets put out goes out lasts 10-20 sec (random)
broken mast - this ship has had its mast broken and moves 50% slower untill fixed
damaged hull - this ship has a damaged hull and is taking on water if not repaired in 60 sec this ship will sink

possibilitys are endless

IDEAS For Cannons

sonic resonator
The sonic resonator matches the resonant frequency of the ship it targets.

does damage that multiplies for every second that the enemy ship is in range

good for longer battles as it gets stronger for each second the battle lasts

animation is shockwave repeated continuously

flame thrower

high dps overall, low damage, high atack speed
sets enemy ship on fire

normal flame thrower animation

telsa coil

the telsa coil builds up terrific electrical energy released in the form of lightning.

all nearby enemy ships take damage

animation: continuous forked lightning?

lol this one is actually a real thing:)

parabolic heat beam

this weapon focuses a beam of sunlight hot enough to melt the hull of the strongest ship

similar to laser but would have the burning buff

Ship classes

some ship classes you should include are

Juggernaugt - Built for war these ships have huge firepower and hitpoints at the cost of speed.

Interceptor, maybe just the spy class?

i dont fully understand your spy ships so i may be restating somthing you already have but ill put it in any way

interceptors are rapid moving ships capable of quickly finshing off stricken ships.

skill ideas

Grappling cannon - fires a grappling hook at a targeted enemy ship
dragging it in.

juggernaugt skill


board - boards a ship directly next to the juggernaught causing both to sit there for x seconds (stun) after which the boarded ship will take X damage

juggernaught skill

broadside- fires all cannons on either side of the ship causing all opponents in a line to take damage (line goes sideways not forwards.)

juggernaught skill

mast breaker- fires a cannon ball which snaps an opponents mast (broken mast buff) Chance to hit goes up every level

interceptor/spy skill


ship idea

Viking longship

class Average all round ship with slightly more speed than normal

unique skills:

RAM - must be very near to opponent has damaged hull buff, also stuns. stun goes up every level

VIKING SPIRIT - Odin looks favorably upon his champion ship granting it minor improvements all round and sometimes even bringing it and its crew back from depths of the ocean Reincarnation with a few extra benifits:D

common skills:

SPEED BONUS

HITPOINT BONUS

Sooda has coded a system called PFDS, which does what you want. I however am happy with the secret skill that is much easier to use in these contexts.

I was thinking about similiar things, and I think I'll add it once I got the rest standing.

Problem is not realism here but rather player - friendliness. A tiny duration might be possible ( repairs XXX over 4 seconds ), but larger periods will give it the "useless during combat" touch. Not to mention that it destroys the surprise effect when the ship suddenly has 50% of its hp back ; )

Trading will work different than usual though. Currently i'm planning to have multiple towns all arround the map. Each of these towns has one resource it produces, and two resources it consumes. The total production is normally higher than the total resource consume on the map. Consume and production of a city depend on its population, which grows when saturated with the resources and shrinks if malsupplied.

For sure, not in every game players want to trade, nor will they be fast enough to supply all the towns of their own empire with the needed goods. Thus, there are multiple AI traders that will work for the empires in order to distribute the basic ressources. Of course, they can be ambushed by the other empire - and be sunk.

Profit is made by buying ressources from oversaturated markets ( resulting in a low selling price ) and then sailing to the malsupplied towns where they can be sold for good money. A good cargo hold allows to carry lots of resources, which results in a higher possible profit ( 60 Kg just are worth 400% more than 20 kg - which means 400% more profit )
When ships with trade-resources are sunk, parts of it will be destroyed and/or leaked. Leaked resources can be stolen by anyone in near.

Note: ALL SHIPS CAN TRADE. Traders just have both a high speed AND the best cargo hold, what allows them to be efficient on long routes as well as on short ones. There is one faster ship, though - the Interceptor class.
Also don't forget that hulls and weaponry have unecessary weight that Traders do not need to carry - whereas other ships have to. Thus a well armed battleship can at most carry a third of what an unarmed trader could.



Why would someone want a gun that shoots vines.

Ok, the name and the description might be somewhat strange, but I basically like it. Perhaps a "Vine Charm" or whatever with a similiar effect would be the right way to go ( not stunning but entangling, the difference being that entangled units may still use items and skills(? not sure about the last part) )

Well the shiptypes I currently have are:

Cruiser ( aka interceptor ) - Really high speed, but a low cargo hold and few hp. Skills are used to pick out single ships.

Battleship - High hp, a reall good Cargo hold, but slow in movement. Skills are both mass damage and picking out single ships.

Spyship - Low hitpoints, a mediocre speed and a low cargo hold let this ship seem quite bad - but its skills are really strong. Apart from spying on ships and constructions, it can turn invisible and sobatage other ships an buildings. Perfect for disabling the enemy defense, but weak in ship to ship combat.

Bombarder - These ships are quite slow, have a good amount of hitpoints and have a really good cargo hold - which suits best for heavy artillery. The skills focus on finding enemies, keeping them out of melee range and escaping difficult situations. Best situated in the background, from where it can easily take out all kind of threats. Weak in melee combat and too slow to escape.

CI-Ship - This class is the perfect hunter for invisible or fast ships. Good hp, a mediocre cargo hold and the mediocre speed make it a worse fighter than the battleship, but its detection skills make up for it. Somewhat like a specialised mix of battleship, spyship and interceptor.

Elemental ship - These enourmous giants control the elements. Each ship has its own element, including wind and ice.

Cargo-ship - The "trader". Good speed and the best cargo hold allow this shipclass to trade resources with a maximum of profit. Its skills help it survive, as the incredibly low hitpoints make it an easy target for cruisers.

Engineer - Reparational tasks are handled by the engineer. It can also construct things in order to support the creeps. Good cargo hold and hitpoints, but weak speed

Secret Operator - This is a constructor ship that tries to assemble defencive structures behind the hostile line. It can create whole bases with reparational stations, towers and shops - if it gets enough time.

Supporter - Supporting auras and skills make this the perfect team-player. Weak in ship to ship combat, and with only little speed.

I wondered the same thing about the grappling cannon myself
To be honest i hate skills like that but i know lots of people like them.

its possible you could give it to both classes and make them slightly different.
some modified examples are

1. Grappling cannon draws you to the enemy ship (cruiser)

2. Grappling cannon fires two hooks sideways from your ship and pulls the two ships together damaging the target

Elemental ships sound EXTREMELY interesting

A friend of mine came up with a good idea for an ice ship

name: icebreaker
captain: LordOfTheNight(the friend who suggested)
class: interceptor/cruiser/spy?

skills:

freeze - freezes all the water around the ice breaker in 3000 range causing all ships except the icebreaker to be unable to move length of freeze goes up every level

ice barrage- fires tiny deadly shards of extremely hard ice at an enemy ship lacerating it with holes causes target to move slowly and take damage for how far it moves

speed increase

flare


Earth ship

name: Granite Juggernaut
class: battleship/bombadier

skills

Granite hull- X% damage reduction moves slower by half of the value of X

tsunami - the granite juggernaut makes the sea floor drop causing a tsunami
dealing huge damage and pushing all enemy ships away in the direction of the wave

hp bonus

regen bonus



Could you add what you are still looking for so i dont make comments about things you dont need or want etc.

Ermm... suggestion : wether :
1.) Slow interceptor class ships or
2.) Weaken long range weapons.

It's uber super imba when an interceptor class + invisible thingy + loads of long range uber power weapon strikes, as my exp in BSs...

It's uber super imba when an interceptor class + invisible thingy + loads of long range uber power weapon strikes, as my exp in BSs...

1. Interceptor are really fast, they are INTERCEPTORS for heavens sake!
2. Interceptors don't have enough cargo loading to use the heavy long-range weaponry!
3. Long Range weapons are weaker than melee weapons.
4. even with long range weapons, an interceptor won't win the game with such a tactic. The battleship with low range weapons will allways have a lot more damage with the same money and thus will more extreme push his creeps. The fact that the interceptor never is hit will not only not accomplish for this damage bonus - it will even increase it: Whereas the 40% extra damage of the battleship will be distributed among 6 creeps, the normal damage will be distributed among 6 creeps + 1 player = 7 units.

Thus the interceptor will loose his creeps almost 60% faster than the battleship - which will, after the first creep, even increase, as the damage distribution and the total dps will change in favor to the battleship player.

Note also this:
The situation might as well be a Bombardier vs a Interceptor, with the bombardier having the better skills for such a task thus getting the Interceptor a huge loss.
The other possible situation would be Interceptor ( melee ) vs Interceptor ( ranged ), which will ( due to the weight of range weapons ) give the melee interceptor a higher movespeed => resulting in a faster ( catcher ) Interceptor and a Slower ( prey ) Interceptor, with the prey even dealing less DPS and / or having less HP than the catcher -> The melee interceptor will also win

For sure, these interceptors are hard to handle, but are still easier than a bombardier with a strong flare, slowing aura and teleport ( which can be killed by a melee interceptor, or by a battleship that came at the right time to the right place )

I hope this dispelled your fears concerning the Interceptor : )

( currently have: radar, hull, sail, trader hull, emergency reparation teams, repair teams )
-Ship skills - only the basic ideas, please; I'll do the balancing and ship assign on my own.

Note: Elemental ships are a shipclass on their own, so they cannot be another shiptype. I also have all the ships, just that some are missing some skills. And I don't want to give every ship a "captains cannon" or "cannon with stun" and such really tipical skills. I need some class specific, unique skills : )

invulnerability for 5 sec but cant attack, consumable

bonuses : changes the sound set to somthing annoying
abilities : scout-Show an area (like sentinel skill from huntress)

dimension changer - EXPENSIVE
allows you to swap between dimensions (with a cooldown)
you can only be hurt by ships in the same dimension

makes model transparrent

skill ideas

greek fire

douses an large area of sea in flame setting fire to ships which sail through the fire requires the whole crew to put out ship cant attack for X sec, ship also takes minor damage

Ram-interceptor

the ship gains bounus ms and slams into an enemy with terrific speed dealing X damage and causing ship to list(not sure of spelling) reducing its ms by Y for Z sec

note: have you got a beta version ? it would be easier to suggest ideas if i know the theme of each ship

What's the point of making a model transparent? You can still see them; you can still see them on the mini-map; with Battleships, it autofires so it doesn't really matter.

Description: a powerful weapon created by the Night Elves. Taking the Glaive Thrower model, they made the glaives smaller and weaker, allowing space to create better mechanics, increasing the fire rate and range.

Note: there's a dummy unit that has the model of the owl; when the ability is casted, after .2 seconds, Angle (real) variable is the facing angle of Caster, and it creates the unit, takes off collision and gives transparency, and tell its to go to point 1500 away from Caster at Angle. The base skill could be any skill with a target point.

Yeah, that's one thing I like about this one - it adds to the "balance". I wonder if my glaive repeater should just be a medium instead of med-heavy...
