Don't talk like this. Minority/Priority doesn't count. If all the world does it, you will say, why me not? But that's not a reason.
I am glad of technology progress as I will involve to it in a few years.

*What's wrong with human cloning other than it's illegal for some reason?
Do you know the reason? There are ETHICAL problems/reasons involved. We are human beings, not common animals.

*people afraid of the advancement of the future.
You must know the meaning of word advancement when you use it. THINK BEFORE YOU WRITE !

@camelCase
I love that you answer right with interesting stuff.

*I'm not afraid of what having a more intelligent being would mean for us humans because it'd be cool to have a personal tutor for every subject I could dream of =P
Or a rival who is always just one step above me.
Or an intelligent companion to speak to (Not all humans are intelligent =P)

You want them, because you want to surpass them or be like them (Am I wrong?)
So it will be cool, to have robots that make you competitive, but it would be more cool to have humans to do that for you?
They will also have some experience, you will talk about many things, you will see them be pleasant because they help you, isn't that beautiful?
Will it be cool to say "Hey bro, I with with RS-80, ACnP and E7-GT to play football, it was awesome !"
I personally don't like it, if you find out what I mean.
Computer are only to do tasks, nothing else.

Can we not get into the human cloning debate?
That, in itself, is a very, very lengthy discussion spanning religion, philosophy, circular logic, evolution, sociology and risk vs. benefit =/

I obviously want to surpass them.
I'm not picky on whether my rival is human or not.
The thing with having machines able to do it is that it gives me an option; an option I can choose and is readily available.

While one might not always have the.. 'connections' to other humans that share in their interests, have the time and patience to teach and the experience, one would almost always be able to have access to a machine/computer.

Like, say, you're interested in "Go" and several other board games, carpentry and airplane modelling.
Finding people to teach you all of these or be your rival would take a while (Especially if these things are considered novel in your area).
Getting your hands on a single machine to teach you all that and anything else you might be interested in is much easier.
And you only lose a little social value during the learning process (Sure, it'll be intelligent but you'll know it ain't human and it'll affect any social interaction with the machine).

I believe it will be possible to make machines intelligent enough (an android, anyone?) in the future (just a matter of 'when') and there'll be good uses for them, too.
So I see no point in NOT researching more into these things.

Of course, I am assuming that it is possible to create machines that mimic or surpass human intelligence.
(We're humans, we'll figure it out sooner or later if we don't kill each other first.)

It's people like that, with attitudes of that type which limit science.

It's the same attitude in the mid 1900's when they were beginning to study heart surgery. I do not believe it's commonly accepted God wants you to die because you have a heart defect anymore.

This is Cognitive Computing now...

What is Cognitive Computing? How are Enterprises benefitting from Cognitive Technology?

AI has truly been a far-flung goal ever since the conception of computing, and every day we seem to be getting closer and closer to that goal with new cognitive computing models.

Coming from the amalgamation of cognitive science and based on the basic premise of simulating the human thought process, the concept, as well as applications of cognitive computing, are bound to have far-reaching impacts on not just our private lives, but also industries like healthcare, insurance and more. The advantages of cognitive technology are well and truly a step beyond the conventional AI systems.

According to David Kenny, General Manager, IBM Watson — the most advanced cognitive computing framework, “AI can only be as smart as the people teaching it.” The same is not true for the latest cognitive revolution.

Cognitive computing process uses a blend of artificial intelligence, neural networks, machine learning, natural language processing, sentiment analysis and contextual awareness to solve day-to-day problems just like humans. IBM defines cognitive computing as an advanced system that learns at scale, reason with purpose and interacts with humans in a natural form.
