Recommend Me a Free Video Editor

I don't know if it belongs here, but here we go.

I need one that is easy-to-use, and freely download-able.
Or just recommend me one that is good.
I need it for an assignment that requires me to edit videos.
I have zero experience in video editing, so I also need a tutorial for it.

Or should I just use Windows Movie Maker?

When I need to do that I just use Windows Movie Maker. It's basic, but it gets the job done right and it's easy to use

You should likely explain what you need it for. For example, do u need the exact frame rate to work on or just adding some effects to the video or even put subtitles/ text into it?

I think I'll need to put effects, especially transition effects, and yes, text and pictures too.
I guess I'll use Windows Movie Maker for now. If I need anything more, I'll come back to this thread.

Sony Vegas-series (Purchase able and 30 days trail!)
Pinnacle-series (Purchase able and 30 days trail!)

The best thing is to try out some trails and read tutorials! Then you might get a cracked version or BUY it. I bought 'Pinnacle Studio, Studio Plus and Studio Ultimate, for about 200$ total, and Sony Vegas 4.0-8.0 for about 1700$ (-.-). But I use it alot and have my own video camera and camera. It interests my alot, thats why I have spent so much on these programs. Try Pinnacle, and maybe buy it. worte every single dollar!

Transforming, text editing and everything you need can be done in both! Higly recommned!

Do you have Macromedia Flash (Adobe Flash), Dreamweaver, etc.?

I have Macromedia Flash 8.

I couldn't find PiTiVi, and both Kino and Cinepaint seemed to only work on Linux.
I use Windows XP btw.

Is there an Editor that allows inserting picture(s) into the clip?
I'm currently using Windows Movie Maker and it only allows text.
