Please note that this is not a "Gaias ORPG" or "TKOK RPG" map, nor will it ever be. I'd like it to scale with them, but my skills in terraining are basic. So, I do not mind the new people out there starting to improve their skills by joining a project. Please, just because you have a few months of experience does not mean this is not the project for you. I actually decided to make this project for people to improve their skills. Now, I am VERY flexible with peoples experience, but not knowing how to change damage and what not and applying for a position on the Object Managing Team is not acceptable, or applying for a position on the Triggering Team and not knowing how to make a VERY BASIC SPELL. Also, applying for a terraining position and not knowing how to use the object editor to change sizes and what not is not acceptable as well. You need the basic knowledge of your skill to apply. Please, this is not a project where people hold your hand, this is a project to improve your skills in what you want to be as a Warcraft Map Maker.

Tales of Tolerot RPG

This is my first attempt at creating a RPG game, but I hope to make it as epic as possible, hope for the best! Now, I planned this all out, from heroes to races, regions to level zone, to an average story! A map of the land is attached at the bottom.

Story
Tolerot, the kingdom of light, stands as one agaisnt the forces of evil. Volese, the Lord of Darkness, has released terror upon the kingdom of Tolerot. Nothing will be the same, nothing is safe anymore. Now, who will stop him, who will take up the task. Now, 10 years of terror and the people of Talerot have had enough, they need to put an end to it. Only you can tell the outcome...

Gameplay
The gameplay to Tales of Tolerot RPG is very simple. Pick one of the 3 playable races and start in Sulan, the starting village. Do quests, level up, get items, and help fight the final battle between Tolerot and Solth!

Playable Races/Classes
The playable races in Tales of Tolerot will be:

Humans
High Elves
Dwarves

The playable classes in Tales of Tolerot will be:

Warrior
Fire Wizard
Paladin
Rogue
Cleric
Barbarian
Ice Mage
Ranger

Quests/Items
There will be hundreds of items and quests in Tales of Talerot for players to complete. Yes, I know, the complaining of the "pointless killing quests" will be included. Though, there will be one epic main questline for players to fulfill. Each town in Tales of Talerot has a part in the epic (not so epic) questline.

Abilities
Abilities in Tales of Talerot will be modified to be (Str/Agi/Int) + (Dmg). I.E. - Strx2 + 75Dmg. Str of 12 = 24+75 = 99 Total Damage.

Powerful Melee Spells such as Barbarian/Warrior/Paladin strikes will be determined by the Str attribute.

Quick Spells done by the Ranger/Rogue will be determined by the AGI attribute.

Healing and Damage Spells done by the Cleric/Ice Mage/Fire Mage will be determined by the INT attribute.

From my experience, I can just strongly recommend not starting with a 480x480 map, because you can always increase the map borders later in the designing process in Newgen.

You can also decrease the map size, but the negative sides of changing the size (like loading time) will never vanish anymore after making the map smaller again. At least this is what i noticed.

From my experience, I can just strongly recommend not starting with a 480x480 map, because you can always increase the map borders later in the designing process in Newgen.

I do know that I can change map sizes. I was planning on not terraining the whole map and only starting with a few zones in the world for the Alpha Release. It would be crazy terraining the WHOLE map, but it's a challenge that will be taken by me and the other terrainer(s). Thanks for the advice!

I wouldn't mind doing some of the Story Writing which would be fun.

I'd also quite like to do trigger enhanced spells, but I'll warn you, I am very new at them, I just find them fun.

It seems to be an only option for me at the moment. There already is a shortage of JASS triggerers as it is, but with the release of Starcraft II: Galaxy Editor, it has become worse. GUI could be the only option, even with the limited things it can do. Luckily, with a good enough GUIer, it can become a little useful, though I do prefer JASS.

But you just said in old days that you love GUI, and you're an anti vJASS.

on-topic: Is this map not allowed in single player because of load and save system? Because you can cheat your character in single player.

heyehyeheyehy :p nothing wrong with some good, well made gui. everyone has their choices, don't knock others so hard for theirs. Its borderline with an equivalent of racism ;) ... scriptism? :p

and so far, its looking good :] of course, it takes time to get to skill such as Zwiebelchen or Sev or Vex or someone, but they all started new :D so im really glad that someone made a project that invited people that were new to help. Let me know if you need help with anything ^^ i'm fairly dynamic in things i can do.

p.s that map this is awesome xD that's the first thing i looked at "=o oh hey, new thread, rpg? hmm,, oh look a spoiler, that must be ss's lets click it :D!"

xD! actually, i what i do to help is making an outline with tiles that are just one, huge kind of tile in the area that you want that kind of zone in. so... if you want such and such part of the map a forest or something, i just cover that entire part with lumpy grass =o then come back and do the actual terraing later, after getting basic hills and such in. It helps ^^ and so, technically your starting on every bit of the terrain before anything else :p

and it helps keep things proportional ;o

Posts like these is what keeps people like me going. I have been busy with baseball, only getting about an hour or 2 for terraining and other stuff such as making some units in object editor. I've been basically starting with the Northwestern Corner while working down.

I plan to release an Alpha Version with atleast 2 regions done, which will probably include 2 main towns, and 3 leveling zones. There will be hours of gameplay in the Alpha Version and hope to keep adding to it. This RPG will continue, but will not be remade on SC2.

I also hope to have the first region which includes a main town and the forest. Anyway, one thing you pointed out, which was "I'm really glad that someone made a project that invited people that were new to help." I really wanted that to be a big part in this RPG. As we know, most projects require "at least x YEARS of experience". This is something that I wanted to keep away from and allow new people to progress further in their knowledge of their skills.

Bump; Baseball has took up a lot of my time, but our last game is Saturday so I will now have a lot of dedicated time to terraining and other things. We could really use a triggerer for systems and such.
