That way, you don't have to get uber lucky to win the game. ;)

you don't need uber luck, just a good team (2 pros at least i think)

@ BioDiablo and ye i know that problem.... especally if a player drops a soul right in the moment when the leader ports xD that also results in another intertesting thing: all people spam/shout and call him supernoob and leave :D interesting effect, huh?

I have some more suggestions:
  • Add some effects when units have buffs/debuffs
  • Make a suggestions thread
  • Make your own forum(?)

On a side-note: I just played this with some other pros (I guess you could call them that), and we made it to the place that you get to after the skeleton area. I saved the replay, if anyone wants to see it ;)

Just happened to me yesterday. I was in a random ToJ game with a BUNCH OF NOOBS (Im talking about you... i wont say it...) and the preist rezzed me then walked out leaving 3 souls behind lol.

Suggestion Part of This Thread I Am Writing:

  • You don't save for yourself or that would be rigged.
  • Instead, it saves for the whole entire team. You know how in Undead Assault, the code works only for you, so even if you know someone else's code and use it, it doesn't work? Have it like that, except the whole team from the game you saved it has to say the code to load your heroes, or maybe just the items in your inventory, but I don't think you can do that, or can you?
  • Because I hate restarting at level 1 again. I never have a good team, it's only me and knight that know how to play, and someone always ruins the team and we have to keep restarting over.

Anyways.... GO TOMB OF JARAHCON! SPELL IT RIGHT YOU PEOPLE THAT DON'T SPELL IT RIGHT!

I can give some suggestions to you aswell :)
The most important thing of course is the team. How it works and all. But another important fact - YOU must be the leader (it doesn't means that aura makes you one); it means you have to lead them, you have to make decisions and well… guess you got the point.
Another good thing is to play with friends. Take some 1 or 2 and the other people will simply learn from them. I usually call the newbs brainless dickheaded porn watchers and I never start a game if there is someone shouting "go" more then 5 times in 2 seconds. Eventually they start watching as we with friends cooperate and join us (then they get a promotion from BDPW to simply dickheads). It is never easy playing with random people, never. I'm usually rehosting 5-7 times before we get something good but as I have already said - I'm patient :). And with this patience after 7th, 10th and 15th time I get a new team which would be able to play with me.
Oh, and I guess the fact that I'm healer (foreverandever) is improving the trust of other people in me as their leader.
Remember - use the fork.

EDIT:
About the game - I have a great idea how to lenghten it.
As I have understood there are 10 acts total and it ends with killing Jarahcon (I guess). But what if…

Act 11 - Jarahcon revives (something to do with his soul) and runs away from the Act 10.
Act 12 - You are back in that dead-Druid's place (Act 9). Everything is burning and demolished; you see the Jarahcon escaping into the Forest (Act 6). As you follow him his guards spawn and protect Jarahcon's soul.
Act 13 - Forest - you still keep following his soul which is running to the start of Act 6 and leaves everything destroyed in its path . Again - the guards spawn and you have to cut through them to eventually get back in Hoisan.
Act 14 - As you enter Hoisan you see that Jarahcon's soul has possessed the Priestess. A boss scene which ends with defeating him (or her now). Jarahcon calls his guards while makes his way North of Hoisan.
Act 15 - Hmm, well… haven't thought further than this but I think those +4 acts (and +1 - as last boss scene - (or even more)) would simply kick ass :)

I'm knight.

And your point...?

Hehe, I see. I'm usually calling people their classes instead of names. Makes more discipline (I'm evil dictator).
My point is to get some friends and be patient.
My working sequence is as it follows:
  1. Host the map with random people
  2. Play it and die in act 1 or 2 (it doesn't matters)
  3. Get few people who would be glad to join again
  4. Rehost and wait for those who want to join again
  5. Play and get more people who would like to rejoin

So eventually, by taking up people who like the map, I form a team. That's the point.

Save Load = Save points that allow better classes. :)
That sounds like a brilliant idea. It gives people the incentive to play, and to get other people interested so that they can attain higher levels of classes.

I don't want to break your dreams but try to imagine Level 30 Hero in Murloc Wetland… It's the same as if Assassin would do 3000000000000000 damage criticals.

I don't think that's what he meant. I think that if you play, you get a special code that lets you play a special hero (starting at level 1).

Yeah he means like, have you ever played Undead Assault (great game)? You always start at level 1, but since its a military game, you gain militart EXP points to get higher rankings like seargent, luenientjateijidj, and stuff, to get better classes. Like when you first start playing, you can choose from Rifleman and Navy Corpsman. Then, when you get, I forgot exactly, like 250 points, you get grenadier added to the list, and like 500 or something, you get more (at 850 or something, you get FLAMER :D).

Anyways, that's what he means. You should get "dungeon exp" points as you play, not saving your hero and level, but saving your dungeon points. I dont think unlocking special heroes is good because then that suggests one class is better than another, yet you always need Clergy. Maybe this, like every 250 dungeon points in your save code, you get an extra EXP point (like with ur weapon skill, constitution, guile and stuff), and it would take SKILLS that kill and stage accomplishments to get points, not just by playing 9999 hours. But to make it fair, there would be like a max of 500 DP (dungeon points) so that would be 2 extra EXP, and from then on, you would need 500 points or something.

No you are all wrong. This is what I mean.

Say everytime you kill or complete a quest, you gain some points.

You may save these points that allow you to play better heroes of the same type.

So it would be like;

Fighter -> Knight -> Blade Master
Page -> Paladin -> Crusader
Archer -> Ranger -> Sharpshooter

You get what I mean?

If you mean that only the name changes then it is simply unnecessary.
Else it's the same. Ones would have better heroes and it is simply lame. I like it as it is. This isn't an oRPG afterall so dungeons and all other crap isn't suitable here! God… go play defiance more if you want dungeons -.-.

well thats the same tactic i also did in the beginning... and when you found some friends you just have to call them (could be difficult too^^) i know what i'm talking about, i'm at that stage

And about that save code... yeah many poeple wish there is one and i think that idea from Undead Assault could work good here too, but the point is: when you have a team with several high class chars (e.g. that Blade Master) and then some poeple join who know the game and stuff, but just don't have such a character, it would ruin everything entirely

if you find any good idea about what you could save, please post them (lol - I sound like the map maker^^)
and now, when we already talk about map makers, Xenoche, have you updated and fixed the last level already? i wanna win that game finally! (and the first time^^)

EDIT: ok i got an idea - balanced and stuff
let's say you get those dungeon points (max 2-3 per game) and every time you play or leave, deafeat, dc and this stuff it will save AUTOMATICALLY (to prevent you use the same code all the time)
anyway my idea was, that you can spend those points to increase the drop rate of a specific item, or upgraders for a specific class

you know that i hate that always the wrong ancient items drop and my idea was to increase the drop rate by this points, or even disable "useless" drops

Ah, LotK, you gave me a good idea that comes off of yours. You get dungeon points, very little per game mind you, and you can save them just like any other game. Then, you have an extra triggered skill that you can open, like a spellbook but not with spells, and instead, you have... "name goes here" like Dungeon Skill or something. There, you can use points to upgrade things like 'weapon upgrade success increase' and same with armor, and any other item-related stuff. But you don't save your character, so each game, you can reuse your points to start over.

Not just a name change, it would also be some skill changes, maybe better, not in damage, but some way better. If you get what I mean.

These are good ideas hmmm...

Well, I quite like the class progression idea, I just dont think ToJ has the scope for codes to be worth implementing. However...

I want to ask a question, and I want everyone to be as ruthlessly honest as you can be, ok, here goes.

After all this talk of save codes and class progressions I've been having thoughts about making a ToJ orpg (crazy I know). Basically un-linearize the map so theres multiple tombs (instead of the 1 linear tomb atm) for players to explore alone or as a team. Obviously I would increase the numbers of players that can play at any one time (6 atm, might boost up to 12).

What do you guys think?

The main reason is, I would love to give a game a bit more depth, retaining the good terrain, skill system ect but adding that little bit extra.

Good idea? or not?
