Toys”R”Us has just gone above and beyond the call of corporate greed, in an effort to take advantage of every consumer interested in purchasing the popular Nintendo Wii console.

The retailer is offering what is perhaps the worst next-gen console “bundle” in the history of gaming: a Nintendo Wii and 10 games (no first party titles and all but one or two are total crap), all for the low, low bargain price of $700 (exactly what you would pay if you purchased everything individually).

"Bend Over" Bundle...lol. Not what I thought this article would be about. Toys”R”Us has always sucked. They have never been the place to go, even as a kid I remember being able to tell that the prices were much higher than others. And isn't the whole point of buying a bundle that you save money. I think this is just targeted for people who are not so smart, or at those whom enough just is never quite enough for their spoiled little grandchildren, etc...

Apparently people in the UK have been going to absurd lengths to get the Wii over Xmas. Strange, 'cos my Dad found loads on sale before Christmas day...

It might also be worth pointing out that you could probably get the same "bundle" by buying the stuff seperatly at a specialist store (i.e. which sells Games and Consoles) and it would be much cheaper... though you probably already knew that.

You misread it.

The Wii is more on a level with the PS2 in terms of power and such. But it's primarily a console aimed at families so it does well, unlike the PS3 and Xbox 360.

It uses motion sensors, so it is the next step to decently priced VR consoles, which has been my childhood dream

The PS3 and Xbox 360 on the other hand are just 'Lets just improve what we already have, big changes are bad.'

being a life long gamer, and having seen all three new consoles in action, i can honestly say that the ps3 has some of the best games, the xbox has some of the best graphics and the wii is nintendo.

the best thing about the wii is all the videos of kids breaking their parents plasma tv's. gotta love that!

the playstation 2 still has alot left to give, playing through ff12, god of war 2 and some other games really shows that the ps2 isnt close to being dead. but sony doesnt care about that.

the xbox 360 has not impressed me as much as i thought it would, halo3 does look good and adds some very cool things to the game, but aside from that the box falls sorta short. unless your an oblivion fan (which i am not) the xbox doesnt have much to offer outside its lower price range (lower than ps3)

the wii has two games i found very enjoyable, but i hate their controllers and most of the graphics on their games are subpar. as most of their games are also 2 hours wonders (boring after 2 hours). i had the opportunity to get a wii for x-mas and passed on it for some novels.

i am personally going for the ps3, soley for metal gear solid 4. but with the other games lined up, the ps3 IMO is the star of the next gen show.

as for toys r us and their second rate bundle. lol. no thanks i think ill pass.:nuts:

Anyways, true industry corruption, aiming at the unsmart consumers to maximize profit.

LEts be glad about one thing - the bundle didn't cost MORE then all the games would have ordinarily cost together

I shop at La Curacao and they have bundle packs for the Wii for only 500$ It comes with an extra wii-mote 2 games of your choice and some accessories. Toy's R Us is just trying to make you think they are the only ones that have it.

I have a somewhat similar stance on the systems as BlightWarden. Everyone I know has the Wii so I have played it a lot. I never made it to that two hour cap you speak of. I could do half hour at the max and then its back to WCIII TFT for me. It just wasn't engaging enough, the games sucked in my opinion even the ones I thought would perform. I am enthused that the market is heading more towards VR however so I applaud Nintendo for stepping out on the right foot. I use to be a die hard Nintendo fan and would fight heretics to the death with kamikaze zeal. Now they really only cater to families and I need something a lot more than Mario's Tea time to keep me engaged. My older brother works for Bungie out of Seattle, WA. So he's contributed to Halo 3, and a lot of other projects out and up and coming for the xbox 360. Given a choice over the three this would be my pick. Why, well better games in mho, and although I may have to wait my bro has told me of some titles that may be worth waiting for. I am a huge RTS fan, so for now I am content with WCIII TFT until StarCraftII is released, and will possible get the xbox 360 if they can generate some good RTS games...

He could possibly lose his job so I have to be real careful with that one. Lets just say that I think we might see some good things coming out of Bungie now that they will be free from Microsoft. They are free to do so much more other than Halo though they plan on keeping that saga alive as well.
