The Ultimate Showdown

Don't double post.

And secondly, those ability names are good, but I'm looking for slightly more complicated spells.

Bump and update:

Changes:
-Dungeon Master no longer has global spells, just a cripple, and a rejuvenation.
-Added the new taverns.
-Added gameplay mode details to the map.
-Multiple changes in terrain.
-Set regions for King of the Hill mode.

PM's coming soon! I just need to get everything in order.

What is it you need to get in order again?

Anyways, I might be a bit sluggish this weekend, I have some acting class for a week, but I still will try to get to work on Half-Court Shot and Free Throw.

Yes, you do get to beta test... map helpers get to Alpha-Test, and anyone involved with this gets to Beta Test.

I just needed to get a list of what I needed to be done written, so I can track changes and stuff I need later.

Perhaps too overpowered? :D
But its the basic idea. Hope you like it :)

Innate is ok, I'll just remove the per level, as innate abilities are supposed to start out moderately good, then get weaker and weaker.

Death Star is a bit over-powered, I was thinking of more classic moves, like Force Push, Force Choke, Force Lightning, and add a new dimension to those, for example:

Force Lightning is simply a regular Forked Lightning, except it will knock back and slow every unit it hits.

And such.

The Emperor's Will is a bit blandish... but other than that, it's pretty good.

Cheddar is working on Shaq's abilities, and I've already got Bat-Grenades down... so you can either work on Batman or Godzilla, I'm alpha balancing Aaron Carter's moves right now.

pheonixashes, I sent you the system requested, let me know if you need help with the 2 others mentioned.

Nice ideas there.

Sorry if I forgot to mention it, I'm up to make spells as well if any help needed with that. ;)

I meant Monsterous, the abilities I needed making; you'll see Batman's abilities posted a while back.

I need abilities on anyone that doesn't have the (Abilities Concieved) tag on the first post.

Rheias, I've seen it.

Rheias (Again), ok.

Im doing Batmans Costume Change. Shouldnt be to hard.
Ill edit this post when its done :)

You mean Flash Change? Just to clarify, I've already got Batman's abilities balanced a bit, and I don't want to do it again. ^_^.

Arghhhhhh ive just done it :p
Ill post it anyway and see what you think of it :)

(What other's must be done that YOU or ANYONE has not done? That way ill get the right spell :p)

i may not post in the project for awhile due to school and shiz like that

All right, changelog for so far. Sorry I haven't been active for a bit.

Innate -- Not started yet. I still have to get over that facing angle obstacle. I'll most likely post something in the World Editor Help Zone.

Sidestep -- Well, I changed it into a simple Blink Strike. The icon is Healing Wave, if you have a better suggestion then please say so. I might add some art later.

Free Throw -- At first, it was working okay except for it asn't always accurate. Setting up a test to detect distance between start and end of the ability, it usually was a random number between 350 and 610, which wasn't going to work out. Finally, after a while, I began changing flying heights, and that appeared to impact the distance. Still not able to find some magic formula, I just decided to slip in a small tooltip that said Shaq isn't all that good at shooting Free Throws. Sometimes words have good power :shades: . It also has a Kaboom! icon. And I need to make it pause units, though that is easy.

Rebound -- Well, I have managed to make it happen, though one small problem is that it won't always be accurate. Setting all ranged units' Point Values to the arc of their shots, and their attack missle speeds to one constant value would drastically help it become accurate. Other than that, a Fragmentation Shards icon, Spiked Barricades art for Shaq, and Firelord Missiles for basketballs. It actually looks decent unless you use Sidestep at the same time it triggers.

Half-Court-Shot -- Not started yet. I'll try to get to work on it today.

Slam Dunk -- Instantly, I could see that this skill was far, far, faaaar too imbalanced. A 90% slow for 15 seconds easily means nobody can escape from Shaq, and they cannot fight either. I changed it to slow for 3 seconds (Don't worry, the stun takes precedence over the slow). After fixing a small bug where Shaq propells himself an infinite amount of distance behind him (whoops) I fixed it, speeding up at first and then slowing down as he reaches his target. I still found that a 500 AoE is a giant AoE, so I edited it to a 250/300/350 AoE so not everything is utterly destroyed.

So now, as a small... thing, I'm going to create 3 barracks spawning stuff, like a tiny AoS arena, only with no way out. Unless you manage to Free Throw something out and then Sidestep/Slam Dunk it.

Anyways, that's the progress, if you want the map, just ask.

I cant think of anymore :(
If i think of something ill edit this OR if you think of something :p

To Cheddar:

For the Sidestep: You mean he simply blinks up and hits the unit? That's ok, I guess, though I'd like if there was some offset.

For the Rebound: You don't have to exact the missle arcs and such.

For the Free Throw: Random numbers are good, thanks.

For the Slam Dunk: Change the slow to 25%/30%/35%, that might help. I want to keep slow at at least 10 seconds.

Also, Shaq attacks approximately 1 time per second at max level, so it shouldn't be too bad for the Slam Dunk thing. Plus, most heroes will easily be able to counter it; Batman with his Bat-Bolas or Batarang, Aaron Carter with his meat shield of Fangirls and his Bounce attack, or Godzilla with his multiple stunning nukes.

To Monsterous 1: (Abilities Concieved) Tag means the abilities are thought of, so you can think of anything without that tag.

To Monsterous 2: I'd like everyone's abilities to be based off of their signature ACTIONS. Thanks though.

I would be there for days, even with my camera set up slides can take a long time, and if they want perfect captures I really need to use my scanners that are professionally made for that. My camera rig works well for what it is, but for enlargements and things it's not as good.
  • Varine Varine:
I've only had a couple clients with that so far, though. I don't have a website or anything yet though.
  • Varine Varine:
Console repair can be worthwhile, but it's also not a thing I can do at scale in my house. I just don't have room for the equipment. I need an office that I can segregate out for archival and then electronic restoration.
  • Varine Varine:
But in order for that to be real, I need more time, and for more time I need to work less, and to work less I need a different job, and for a different job I need more money to fall back on so that I can make enough to just pay like, rent and utilities and use my savings to find these projects
    +1
  • Varine Varine:
Another couple years. I just need to take it slow and it'll get there.
  • jonas jonas:
any chance to get that stolen money back?
  • jonas jonas:
Maybe you can do console repair just as a side thing, especially if there's so much competition business might be slow. Or do you need a lot of special equipment for that?
  • jonas jonas:
I recently bought a used sauna and the preowner told me some component is broken, I took a look and it was just a burnt fuse, really cheap to fix. I was real proud of my self since I usually have two left hands for this kinda stuff :p
  • tom_mai78101 tom_mai78101:
I am still playing Shapez 2. What an awful thing to happen, Varine, and hopefully everything has been sorted out soon. Always use multi-factor authentication whenever you have the opportunity to do so.
    +1
  • Varine Varine:
I think all of the money is accounted for now, and all the cards have been changed out, so I think for the most part it's taken care of now. Just need to go through and make sure all of my accounts are secured again, it's just time consuming.
  • Varine Varine:
And yeah everything has 2 factor turned on now, or at least everything I can think of at the moment.
  • Varine Varine:
The consoles don't need too much equipment that I don't already have. I would like to get a reflow oven, but I don't really want to buy one so I'm thinking about modifying a toaster oven I have to make something that will work for what I'm doing.
  • Varine Varine:
I have the soldering irons and reflow and all that, but without an oven it's kind of hard to build mod chips and things like that. I made a handful of them with a hot air station, but it's a pain.
  • Varine Varine:
The only thing I'm not really set up for is BGA rework. I've done it before a little bit, but not reliably, and that equipment is wildly expensive. You need X-rays and shit.
  • Varine Varine:
I also have a couple 3D printers. I'm not super good with those and need to get an enclosure built, but they'll be useful for some aesthetic mods I've been thinking about. At least I can use them to do designs and then just have someone else print out the parts for me once I know they work.
  • Varine Varine:
I also use them to make adapters for all my camera shit, but that's also an on the side thing for now. Lens adapters get really expensive.
  • Varine Varine:
I've been trying to do some little art pieces as well, but I'm not much an engineer so they haven't gone great. I got some new things showing up to try and play with
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build this tesserect kind of thing with mirrors, and I've been trying to make this like black hole diorama. In my head it looks really cool, but I kind of thought I could form polarizing lenses into a sphere but I tend to just destroy them every time I try.
  • Varine Varine:
So I got a new idea, but I'm not sure how to make it work like I want without being able to get a polarizer curved. I think they are made out of PVA typically, and I thought I could just heat it up a little bit to soften the film, but that clearly isn't working. So I'm going to try a few other things, I'm thinking if I put a mirror film over the polarizing film I might get something cool. I have some polarized LED's as well, and I think if I make a central light source I can use the mirrors combined with the polarizers to make that central light APPEAR black. I have next week off so I'm going to spend some time trying to figure it out
  • Varine Varine:
The tesserect works, at least. I just need to figure out how to be able to assemble it, but I think I have a pretty good idea of how to go about it. Or at least a prototype of it. I'll post some pictures next week
  • jonas jonas:
That last bit sounds like the last entry in a scientist's journal in a destroyed research facility in a post-apocalyptic video game
  • Varine Varine:
    lol it's not that exciting
  • Varine Varine:
    Shiny tho
  • Varine Varine:
Basically it's a cube with a two way mirror on the inside, and then a smaller cube suspended in that with a mirrors on the outside of it. Kind of like those infinity pictures where they use two mirrors to go forever. Only it's twelve mirrors
  • Varine Varine:
And the tiniest LED strip I could find
